Above the Beyond Yoga
Dr. Linda Lutz, PhD, is the director of Above the Beyond Yoga studio. She is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with 27 years of teaching experience, 18 years in Columbia, MO. She is a 500 hour registered Yoga Alliance teacher. Linda studies with her senior teachers at least 6 times a year. She attended the 2007 convention with Geeta Iyengar & attended the Yoga Journal Estes Park conference in 2005 with honored teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar. Linda served 2 years on the National Iyengar association board. She also teaches biology & chemistry classes at several colleges.
During the summers Linda has a great time teaching yoga to the Mizzou athletes. Working with the athletes has encouraged her to return to her studies once again, and this time she will obtain a Masters of Science in Athletic Training emphasizing injury prevention & rehabilitation.
Description of Classes
Intro to Yoga: Students are taught the form & shape of the basic 35 poses. Students can take a Intro class any time.
Beginning Level: Students are taught the basic 35 poses. Students are urged to take at 12 weeks before moving up.
Mixed Level I: Offered to continuing students. Pose will be offered for both abilities.
Continuing Level: Further refinement of beginning poses as well as introduction the 38 new poses. Students should know Shoulder stand & the Iyengar method.
Level II: Further refinement with the addition of new poses. Students should know both shoulder stand & head stand.
Level III: Students must have a home practice. Permission by instructor only.
Open Level/Focused Study: Saturday morning class. Dates vary.
T.G.I.F.: Periodic focused classes, such as neck & shoulder asana, restorative, or knee variations.
Gentle Yoga: This class is for the student that cannot be in a regular class.
