Amighetti's Bakery and Cafe is an Italian American bakery and cafe located in O'Fallon, MO. They are most known for their Amighetti's Special Sandwich. The Special is made with ham, roast beef, Genoa salami, brick cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, pepperoncini and secret recipe Amighetti's dressing on freshly baked Italian bread.They also make and serve fresh pasta.
Amighetti's Bakery and Cafe was founded in 1921 by Louis Amighetti, an Italian immigrant. It was later run by his son Louis Amighetti Jr. (nicknamed was "Junior" to all who knew him), who with his first wife Angela and children then later second wife Marge, grew the business to the point that in the late '60's/early '70's it expanded from a small, traditional bakery into a sit-down casual sandwich shop. They later began selling their own in-house made varieties of gelato and also expanded to open another location downtown near Busch Stadium. Years later Marge and Junior sold their business to Anheuser Busch, staying on to continue running the enterprise.
Mary Ellen Downing opened her first franchise in 1996 in Florissant and then opened an additional location in Hazelwood in 2001. She has had a part of the Amighetti business for over 16 years. She decided to open in O'Fallon, MO because so many of her customers had been asking her to expand to St. Charles County and the location is closer to her home.
What we serve
We get our bread delivered fresh from the main location on the Hill every morning. We have the same signature sandwiches that have made Amighetti's famous throughout St. Louis. In addition to the great sandwiches we also serve an assortment of pastas with our homemade sauces, fresh salads, homemade soups and desserts.
Customers can follow us on twitter to find out our pasta specials for the day and our soup selections. We have dine-in or carry out. We also deliver to businesses for lunch meetings and schools. We have a dining room that seat up to 40 with outside patio dining when weather permits.
We even offer premium catering services for special events and parties.
