About Us

Columbia EDP Center, Inc. is a locally owned Payroll Service Bureau in Columbia MO.  We have been doing business throughout the United States for over 40 years. Most of our clients are located in central Missouri. We have been in business since April 1965 and Incorporated as Columbia EDP Center, Inc. on May 25, 1971.

Our system is very robust and easy for our clients to use. You turn in the payroll information and we do the rest! Payroll can be sent in by phone, fax or an Excel spreadsheet emailed to us. We also have remote client input, which is a version of our software on your computer.

Our goal is to use our expertise in payroll and payroll tax to provide you with the best payroll/tax service possible. We are also aware of your many needs in other areas such as employee benefits. So that we can provide you with the best solution in these areas, we have partnered with area experts to offer 401k’s, IRA’s, Section 125 Cafeteria plans, Insurance and other benefits. Our partnerships with these professionals ensure we are providing the highest level of expertise and the greatest value to our clients.

Our basic service includes, payroll preparation, making tax deposits, filing quarterly returns, annual returns and W-2’s. Other services available are; pay as you go work comp insurance, time and attendance solutions, employee self service, pay cards, applicant/employee background screening, human resource solution, time off accrual, garnishment / child support payments and 401k deductions and reporting.

Because we are committed to keeping our clients information safe and secure, we maintain real time data synchronization with our off-site secure facility. The minute changes are made to our main production database servers, a copy of that information is sent to our backup site. Your data is also backed up on tape every night and stored at a different off-site location. In case of disaster at our main office, we can literally walk in the door of our off-site facility located one hundred feet below ground and start processing payrolls. We have a complete disaster recovery plan in place and are ready to continue business operations even in the event of a disaster at our main location. We test all systems and processes at our off-site facility and exercise our disaster recovery plan every six months to be sure we can process from that location should it be necessary. Each test run is carefully documented. If we experience any failure during testing, we make the corrections and conduct the entire test all over again until we achieve a failure free test. Changes and upgrades are made when necessary to keep our facility in optimum condition. Your payroll and payroll tax information is vital to your organization. Security and confidentiality of that information is among the most important aspects of your business. It’s very important to us too, and we have taken extensive steps to protect your information and give you peace of mind.

We appreciate the value of our employees and are proud to have many that have been with us on a long term basis. We have two employees that have been with us over forty years, two that have been with us over thirty years and five that have been with us between ten and twenty years. We have an MBA accountant and a Certified Payroll Professional on staff for professional support of our client’s payroll and tax needs. We have a wealth of experience, knowledge and resources to support our client’s payroll and tax needs.
