About Us

In 1985 we leased a warehouse at the corner of Walnut and Orr St. in the Central Business District. We chose this location to meet the self-storage needs of merchants, professionals, colleges and residents in the surrounding area. We underwent 6 months of renovation and established Uptown Storage in the 25,000 sq. ft. 3-story brick building that hadn’t been used for many years. Once the renovation was completed, we built over 235 units. During our 18-year lease, over time the Central Business District became too congested for our warehouse business. We realized it was time to better serve our customers at a new location in the area. We located and purchased property a few blocks away at College Avenue and Hickory St., our current location. In 2003 we built Columbia Storage which was designed to meet a variety of self-storage needs with over 300 units in our 33,000 square foot facility. Once completed, 160 of our customers moved with us. Our facility is well lit with ample parking and the buildings are well insulated with tall ceilings and wide hallways. We continue to serve many established long-term and repeat customers, many of whom we first met at Uptown Storage.
