About Us

Welcome to First Church of God, Jefferson City, MO where we are much more than a building and a location.  Frist Church of God is a non-denominational church with general office in Anderson, Indiana.  We major on the "Majors" and minor on the "minors" when it comes to theological matters.  This allow us to agree to disagree on very interpretive issues.  We also believe that all Christians are member of God's Church and, therefore, we have no formal membership.  This approach enables people from a variety of backgrounds to find a comfortable fit in our church family.

At the heart of First Church of God is Christ and Christ-Centered people.  People who are committed to makng a difference one life at a time.  People who come to grips with their brokenness, so they can minister to a world filled with brokenness.

Whether you come to First Church of God to a worship service, attend a L.I.F.T. group, Youth group, special Sunday or Wednesday service, we want you to feel at home and make friends here.

Our vision is that ALL mankind will discover the love of God through a process of Connecting, Growing and Serving.

We accomplish our vision through six guiding principles from God's Word and our Articles of Corporation:

-IN WORSHIP:  To encourage and assist in individual and collective worship of one true and great God.
-IN MISSIONS:  To lift up the work of the Church in our community and around the world.
-IN MINISTRY:  To program for the spiritual and moral encouragement of this community.
-IN EVANGELISM:  To work for the saving of all mankind and the unity of all God's people.
-IN DISCIPLESHIP:  Through the teaching and preaching of God's Word as it is set forth in the Word     of God.
-IN FELLOWSHIP:  To build relationships on God's Word that strenghten the body of believers so  they can accomplish God's work.

Ministry Opportunities at First Church of God

*L.I.F.T. Groups (Living in Faith Together) are small home groups that will most often meet on Sunday evenings.  These groups will provide you with opportunities to connect, grow and serve.

*The J.O.Y.(Jesus, Others and You) Group is a special group of Senior Adults who enjoy monthly fellowship. 

*Our Music Ministry creates opportunities for children and adults to praise and worship God through song.  Opportunities include; special musical presentations and plays, adult church choir, special music and instrumental accompaniment.

*Our Prayer Ministry is designed as a tool to share our concerns and needs.  Both telephone and email prayer chains are utilitzed to contact church family.

*Youth & Children's Ministries are programs designed to develop our youth and children of our church spiritually, mentally and physically.

*Sunday School is designed to minister to all ages in spiritual development.

*Pioneer Clubs is our children's ministry for children 2 years old through 5th grade.
