Funeral Services
Gorman-Scharpf is a full service, family owned funeral home located in Springfield. Our goal is to offer the most dignified services, professional staff and beautiful surroundings for the families we serve.

Our facility has been designed to provide a comfortable setting for you and your loved ones. Our funeral home offers a variety of options, whether you desire a traditional chapel setting or the comfort of a living area for your services.
Our staff is uniquely qualified to provide the most tailored service. Together with your help, we can customize a Memorial DVD to share the life of your loved one. Our facility offers a Plasma TV in our chapel to share photos of your loved one with family and friends.

We can personalize your service, whether simple or elaborate.
In addition to funeral services our staff also provides the following services.


Cremation
We have a wide variety of cremation caskets, urns, and keepsake urns. From cremations that follow traditional funerals to direct cremations, we will assist your family in planning and choosing the options that suit your families needs and your loved ones wishes.

The following are just some of your options:

· Direct Cremation: No services or visitation with an alternative container.
· A Traditional Funeral Service Followed By Cremation: A casket present for visitation, a funeral service in our chapel or at a place of worship, followed by cremation, then burial of cremated remains to follow at a later date in a cemetery, scattering, or family retention.

· Memorial Service: No casket present, cremation followed by a service with the urn either present or not present held in our chapel or place of worship or any other significant location, followed by burial in a cemetery, scattering, or family retention.

As a full service facility, with our own onsite crematory, we offer families the comfort of knowing their loved one will be in our care throughout the process.

Obituaries
We will assist you in preparing an obituary to be published in the newspapers of your choice.

Veteran’s Benefits
Our staff will assist with the arrangement of military honors for your veteran. We can provide a burial flag, coordinate burial in a state or national military cemetery and order a government marker. Our local Veterans Administration can assist you in filing for any benefits your family may be entitled to by calling 417-895-6532.

Social Security
We will notify the Social Security Administration and assist you in applying for benefits. The SSA may pay a death benefit of $255.00 directly to a surviving spouse or dependant child. Other benefits may be available through our local SSA office. You may contact them at 877-850-7824.

Insurance Claims
Our staff will assist you in filing for life insurance proceeds. Funeral directors are able to take insurance assignments in order to cover the costs of a funeral service at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

Death Certificates
We will help you obtain death certificates which can be important for insurance purposes as well as a host of other issues. In most instances we hand deliver our death certificates to the doctor and the county health department to help expedite the process for you.

Pre-Planning
A "Pre-Arrangement" allows you to plan your service before it is actually needed. This saves those you love from the decision-making process after your death as well as ensures the service is conducted as per your wishes.

After expressing your situation and wishes with us, we can create a plan that most meets your needs and financial situation.

Information

Put down all your biographical information about your life, career and your family. All the facts you'll want everyone to know and remember. Write down all the personal information that you will want known; things like hobbies, special interests, career information, etc.

Arrangements
You will meet with a funeral director and make decisions about your funeral or memorial service, what type of casket or urn, vault, the services you want, and other details. We will explain all your options, outline the costs, and make recommendations, if you like.

Funding The Funeral
Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home offers pre-funding through trust or insurance, which allows you to alleviate the financial burden on your family. Stop in or call us to speak to one of our funeral directors. We will work with you to set up a pre-funded plan to fit your budget. With a pre-funded funeral plan through us, we guarantee the costs of your funeral today or years to come. A pre-funded funeral arranged with any other funeral home in the area may be transferred to us with no loss of benefits.

IRREVOCABLE plans are transferable as well by simply signing a transfer form. You will not lose any Medicaid or SSI benefits.
