About Us

Jennings Insurance Group offers customized plans for Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans for the entire Kansas City area.  Owner Becki Jennings focuses on communities located in the Johnson County and the I-435 State Line such as Overland Park, Olathe and Shawnee.

We represent many Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplemental Insurance plans. Our recommendation is not company based, but rather, needs specific. We will make every effort to exceed your expectations. You will speak with a licensed, trained agent for a thorough consultation. This will, of course, require no obligation.

If you are brand new to Medicare, please let us know. We want to answer all of your questions as thoroughly as possible.

If you have been on Medicare for a while, and just want to discuss options for the following year, let us know, so we can do a thorough comparison for you.

What to expect at your appointment: Plan on about an hour. We will be happy to visit with you longer if necessary. Be sure to have your Medicare card, your previous insurance card (if applicable), and a picture i.d. (like a driver's license). Also, a list of medications and doctors, including specialists, you are currently seeing will be helpful. Be sure to write down questions before the appointment.

What is Medicare?

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 or over. It also covers people who are under 65 who have certain disabilities, as well as people of any age with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

Before deciding what course of action you are most comfortable with, let's start by understanding what Medicare coverage looks like first.

Medicare Part A: Hospital Insurance

This covers hospital, hospice, home health, and skilled nursing care.

Medicare Part B: Medical Insurance

This covers things like (but is not limited to) doctor office visits, preventive, physical therapy and emergency room.

Coverage for Part A and B is standard for everyone.

What is Part D? Part D is prescription drug coverage. Most people need to choose a Prescription Drug Plan, provided by an insurance company, in order to avoid a penalty.

What is the difference between Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Supplement Plans?

Medicare Advantage Plans are also called Part C. Private insurance companies, approved by Medicare provide this coverage. Many of these plans have Prescription Drug coverage included.

To qualify for a Medicare Advantage Plan, you must have Medicare A and B, live in the proper service area, and you cannot have End Stage Renal Disease.

To enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you must qualify for the plan and you can only apply during proper election periods.

Not all Medicare Advantage Plans are the same. It is good to review options to be sure the plan is right for you.

Medicare Supplements are also called "Medigap". Medicare Supplements are designed to help cover copays that Medicare does not cover. These plans are standardized and must follow federal and state laws. Medicare allows companies to offer up to 11 of these standardized plans, but many companies do not offer all 11. Medicare Supplements do not have Prescription Drug coverage included.

How do I know when to buy or enroll in a policy?

There are several enrollment periods to be aware of. When you first become eligible for Medicare, you will want to make sure you enroll in the plan or plans of your choice within the initial election period. Once you are on Medicare, there are other enrollment periods to know about. Every year Medicare has an Open Enrollment Period. This starts October 15 and goes through December 7. This is when you should review your Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug Plans, specifically. You are allowed to make changes during this time. There are other special enrollment periods, such as, relocating, loss of current coverage, and sometimes a significant drop in income, just to name a few.
