I bought a chiropractic table from this company: Phillips Chiropractic Table. Their website is www.phillipschirotables.com. I asked for a discount. They told me if I pay via check, they can give me a discount. This was my big mistake. When you pay via check, you lose your ability to dispute a transaction since the money is already with the seller.
I bought this table on September 2012, since I added plane traction to the standard flexion-distraction table, the table production was delayed and it was completed on January 2013. The problem came when they are about to ship the table.
First of all, they did not tell me that UPS Freight will be shipping the table. Secondly, when they quoted you for shipping, they will say that shipping includes inside the office delivery.
When the UPS person arrived, he told me that they do not ship inside. He can only leave the table on concrete. He arrived by himself. He said he can re-schedule if I cannot bring the table inside my home office. I agreed.
I called Phillips Chiropractic Table again. They told me that they contracted UPS to ship inside. So I called UPS this time. UPS said, I need to pay a 116 dollars re-delivery charge. I called Phillips Chiropractic Tables again to talk to UPS so that they can straighten out the incident. I was guaranteed an inside shipping. After a few hours of back and forth conversation, Jay from Phillips Chiropractic Tables told me that they just have to “wait and see”. UPS told me that they would not ship the table if I did not pay the extra 116 dollars. I paid this extra money knowing that nobody from Phillips Chiropractic Tables is going to help me at this point.
UPS delivered the table the next day outside the home office in the pouring rain. No help was extended to me by Phillips Chiropractic Tables. I had to hire 2 movers the next day (weekend rate) to carry the table inside since the delivery was made on a Friday afternoon.
The table looked good. However, the plane traction is not what most of us would think. If you know of Cox tables, the plane traction/distraction can be controlled by the tiller handle. This way you can stabilize the back of the patient with one hand and use the tiller handle for the distraction. Their plane traction is more of a height adjustment only. There is a knob at the bottom part of the table that you can turn (more of a screw). The knob just lengthens the table, but you cannot stabilize the patient’s spine while performing the technique.
Bottom Line, save your money. You get what you pay for. If you want plane traction, go with Cox or other more reputable companies. If you are a fresh grad and want a flexion distraction table for cheap and don’t mind carrying a 350 pound table by yourself, and leaving the table overnight in the pouring rain; then, you can consider this table. For the rest of us, save yourself the grief and headache. It is not worth it.
