About Us

University Gardens opened April 5, 2003 as an urban garden center.  We offer unique garden accessories and unusual plants that are not often found at sprawling nurseries or big chains.  We strive to make University Gardens a place of inspiration for gardeners and non-gardeners alike. University Gardens transformed an auto repair facility to provide an open atmosphere and revitalize our community.

 

Being long-time residents of St. Louis with a passion for horticulture, it was an obvious choice to open University Gardens as a family business.  It is an upscale garden center appealing to an urban audience.  With gifts, unique hard goods and unusual annuals, perennials and woody shrubs, our goal is to create a personal shopping experience for the savvy gardener.

 

University Gardens is every bit a small family, one we are all proud of.  We have 20 talented individuals on our staff (a big handful have been with us since our very beginning).  Our team is genuinely proud of their creations from weekly garden maintenances, full plant installs, tropical arrangements, ongoing plant care, and much more.  Sharing our knowledge, preservation and interest of horticulture is fun and fulfilling for all of us, we want to share that with you!

Hours

We offer a place for inspiration year-round; however, our spring season starts March 20th – we are open seven days a week – Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
