About Us
Ward Family Stables, where horses and humans come together to find "The True Connection".
Our goal is to assist each horse and owner to build a partnership by becoming calm, confident and consistent which enhances safety. We build this partnership by teaching communication skills and achieving mutual respect.
Ward Family Stables is located 15 miles north east of Columbia, Mo. We have an indoor and outdoor arena, a roundpen, washrack and other amenities. We offer full board, training services and individualized lesson programs depending on the needs of each horse and owner.

At Ward Family Stables it is clear that the horses are priorities and we humans are there to learn their language. It is a place to face one's own self, the one horses read so well. I love boarding there, riding there and having lessons that gently lift me out of my comfort zone.

Sharon Ward is by far the best horsewoman and trainer that I have ever known, and my experience with horses spans 20+ years with at least 6 different trainers/instructors. Sharon specializes in the care and nuturing of adult amateur riders. It is so wonderful to find a trainer who does not discriminate against you based on your age! If you are willing to work hard, Sharon will work hard with you to make you the best horse person you can be. Sharon is an expert at helping riders & their horses confront their fears and weaknesses and work through them to form a solid partnership that is based in confidence, security and mutual respect. Mutual respect and confidence are first gained through ground work, which is then reinforced during mounted lessons. With Sharon's careful guidance and hard work, I have come to realize that I am blessed to own the horses of my dreams! My confidence and riding ability have really improved, and this has given me more confidence in other areas of my life, too. Being at Ward Family Stable has been a great life experience for me, and I highly recommend Sharon to all adult riders who want to better appreciate their horses and improve their riding skills.

I have been riding all my life and I have learned so much from Sharon.
She is a very patient instructor and goes over the basics of the whole horse not just getting on and going. She helps you and your horse communicate and understand each other in a way I never knew was out there. It's a great place for you and your children to learn to ride better than you had before.
