Bob came as a referral from a friend because I was looking for a longstanding plumber to install some stuff and service my system regularly. Typically I prefer the service and workmanship of a smaller shop or independent. I have no doubts that Bob knows his trade and I will admit he was almost half the cost of a larger plumbing company in town.
I called Bob over three weeks ago to schedule a day and time for him to see what I have and give an estimate. Our call was short and he told me to email him with some days and he'd get back to me on a time. I emailed him before we had hung up. Four days and two email follow ups later, after no reply, I called him again. He apologized and said he could meet me at the house that evening. He came out and after a quick perusal he said he would email a quote. A week goes by and I don't get anything. I call him and ask if he can send a quote in which he says he will send that night. Two days later I get a quote Bob.
"Total of both projects is $1750.00
,which includes parts and labor.
If you would like to purchase your own watersoftner ,we would install it in the same location ,for $490.00.
Thanks ,LAWRENCE PLUMBING"
I asked for a breakdown and equipment info which took another two days and was still just a poorly typed email from his phone. When I got that I promptly asked if he could complete by the end of the following week before we were scheduled to move in. 4 days later I get a reply saying he could do it that Friday. I told him I ran out of time and I already had called a larger competitor two days prior and had everything installed.

Joshua,
As a one person business I strive to serve my long term and new customers and plan ahead for jobs. If unforeseen emergencies arise plans change to help with calamities like broken pipes and flooded basements. I received a series of emergency calls that necessitated repeatedly rescheduling a number of customers during this time. I sincerely apologize for the series of events that prevented me from being able to work your job into the schedule before you moved in and that you had to spend more money with a another company.
