Review of Randy Hutsell Home Repair

by John Harkwrighter on 1/26/2016
I hired Randy to do some very simple repairs to my home prior to selling it. He showed only an incompetent attitude when approaching these tasks. He claimed he could repair my sagging ceiling, even guaranteed myself and my Realtor, however once he began work he realized he could not fix the sagging ceiling and acted as if the past conversations didn't exist. Also he was to fix two broken windows in the home, my home was built in 1976 with original windows, he claimed he had never seen these kind of windows and proceeded to extract the ENTIRE window frame- Not the pane of glass that needed to be fixed. I had to call Santa Fe Glass to come do the job right. They had heard of Randy and said that they have had to fix his mistakes in the past. Also he proceeded to leave the window frame on with only two screws securing it to the house (in 30 degree weather) which caused my furnace to run for 3 straight days. I nearly lost the deal on my home sale do to his incompetence! He proceeded to bill me for the repairs that he did not complete. I had to find a REAL contractor to do the job and upon that contractor meeting Randy he assured me that he was very incapable of the jobs asked of him and it was wrong for him to assume he could do these repairs. Also every time my Realtor checked on Randy he was either sitting down talking on the phone or looking for other things to "Repair" in the house. Very unprofessional and very untrustworthy.

Unfortunately this review represents a one sided opinion of this situation. Not mentioned in this review is the home had a previous fire and was cleaned up with fire retardant causing the ceiling to sag. Many of these issues were found after the work was initiated and not disclosed. I continue to do excellent work for the community and am saddened this one case which was unsuccessful. Please contact me directly for further information.

This is a total fabrication. I have never met John Harkwrighter? The gentleman I worked for was named Leonard and I do recall the job. He and his realtor waited until the 11th hour to get the work completed and there wasn't enough time to complete the job properly. The windows referred to were STORM windows and I did remove the entire window but could not find anyone to repair it. In regards to comments about Santa Fe Glass I have worked with them in the past and they were always very satisfied with the quality of my work. This is a case of the customer waiting too long to hire the work done and then expecting results overnight. I resent the implication that I am a "scammer". I have been in this business for over 35 years and that would NOT be the case if I were a scammer. I have accumulated many loyal customers who never hesitate to call me.
